Décollage

Let me begin by saying, best vacation of my life…My family headed to Papeete, Tahiti on December 26, 2007 for a trip around 6 of the most beautiful Tahitian islands: Bora Bora, Taha’a, Huahine, Raiatea, Moorea, and last but not least, Papeete.  This was no ordinary trip, we sailed on the Star Flyer, one of the biggest sailboats in the world!  Let me not get ahead of myself, because there is alot to tell.  I will begin with the flight to Papeete…AWFUL!  Air Tahiti Nui was the airline we took, not bad at all but the flight was just entirely too long and I was curled up in a ball trying to sleep in a not-so-comfortable chair.  The funny thing about this flight was our pilot.  His name was Jaques (something in french) and he literally did not say a word until we actually lifted off the ground.  Right when the nose was brought into the air he came on the loud speaker and said in a very seductive voice, ”Décollage.”  We had no idea what it meant but couldn’t help but laugh at his attempt to be sexy.  Later on in our trip we asked someone what it meant and in french it translates as, take-off.  Thanks for letting us know we were taking off Jaques…
